VICTORIA PARK HIGH SCHOOL
SPORTS CODE OF CONDUCT
EXPECTATIONS OF A VICTORIAN SPORTSPERSON:
SPORTS OVERVIEW:
INTRODUCTION:
The importance of sport at a school must never be under-estimated. It is an integral part of the learners’ total development, not just the physical development. Not only can sport be beneficial as exercise, it can also help with motor skills and co-ordination. In the age of computers and television, sport is vital in the school environment. We thus ask parents to support the school by being actively involved in their children’s sport.
SPORTING VALUES:
Use life’s opportunities
A healthy body ensures a healthy mind
Work together, play together
All for fun and fun for all
WE OFFER THE FOLLOWING SPORTS:
The school has facilities for, and provides coaching in:
Athletics - Summer only
Cricket (for boys and girls) - Summer only
Hockey (for boys and girls) - Winter only
Netball - Winter only
Rugby - Winter only
Soccer (for boys and girls) - Winter only
Tennis (for boys and girls) - Winter and summer
Provision is also made for Swimming and Squash.
EXPECTATIONS OF A VICTORIAN SPORTSPERSON:
Each learner is expected to participate in at least 1 summer sport and 1 winter sport.
Once a learner registers to participate in a sport and is selected to play for a particular team, they commit themselves to that sport and team for the entire season.
When 2 sporting codes are chosen in the same season (e.g. soccer and hockey), an arrangement has to be made with the respective coaches to avoid any clashes – we encourage learners to choose and participate in as many sports as they want.
When learners are absent on practice days, the Teacher-in-charge of his or her sports has to be notified through the Sports Co-Ordinator, before the end of the school day.
Doctor’s appointments, where possible, must be made on non-practice or non-match days.
CODE OF CONDUCT:

Any injury sustained in a game or practice, which requires medical attention, should be reported to the coach.
