New Club House

MOTIVATION FOR THE BUILDING OF “THE VICTORIAN”

After a number of years of deliberation, meeting and planning, everyone on the Governing Body eventually agreed that the old coaches which had become an icon of Port Elizabeth, had to be replaced- they no longer fulfilled the requirements of a vibrant and growing school. And so the dream of our own clubhouse began to materialize.

The main emphasis, which had become a long term objective is to attract the parent body and to involve them more in the ongoing activities of the school, especially in the area of extra murals. I believe the Victorian is a place where this can be initiated and achieved.

Secondly, we needed a venue for the staff and pupils of V.P. of which they could be proud and where they could socialize, have indaba’s or getaways and the like and truly have a stronger sense of belonging.

Looking to the future I would like to see two things materialize:
A strong old boys and old girls influence and involvement emerge
The Victorian needs to be used to it’s full potential as a marketing
tool i.e. hiring the venue to various businesses and sports bodies in
order to give us more recognition and exposure in the city of P.E.

This wonderful venue has already proven to be a major success for V.P.H.S. and is fast becoming a venue of choice for a number of outsiders, which is very encouraging to see. I am truly proud of those who were involved in making this dream become a reality.
