SHAPE is a youth-leadership programme presented to interested learners in Grade 11.

Do you see yourself as a leader or a follower? Are you able to influence the people around you? Or perhaps you are able to turn a situation into a solution? These are just a few questions that make one wonder what your purpose in life really is.

In SHAPE, we also learned how we could become better leaders in life and by becoming better leaders; we give hope and a sense of security to others. I’m sure that other members will agree with me that SHAPE has helped us recognize who we are and what we should stand for. They say that ones journey begins when your inner being comes to terms with your true self. This has been a pleasurable and successful course yet again, as well as life changing experience.

SHAPE taught this year’s group many things. But the biggest challenge was trying to be ourselves. Over the 8 weeks, we grew as a group and as individuals. Friendships were developed that definitely won’t be lost in the near future. Our co-ordinator, Mr. Barry, was well prepared, making every session meaningful. Everyone that took part in this course really did benefit in some way or another. This course taught us life long lessons regarding leadership and individuality. It taught us that you have to know yourself before you can become a great leader. The course was invaluable to all of us and was an investment in our futures. Thank you to Mr. Barry for facilitating such an awesome programme.
