Paddling 2010

 After the successes of 2009 paddling has had a quiet year as our matrics focused on their many other commitments. It is with sadness that we bid farewell to Michelle Nowers, Dylan Theron and Margaret Webb who leave at the end of the year.

 However we have many enthusiastic newcomers joining up and making rapid progress and I am sure our experienced grade 11s will take the sport from strength to strength.

 Apart from paddling on North End Lake we have had some exciting visits to the sea and despite some dramatic wipeouts most of the paddlers are coping with Summerstrand’s demanding conditions very well.

 As we have now formalized our relationship with Summerstrand Surf Lifesaving Club we hope to have more frequent visits to the sea this summer, introducing more of our paddlers to this exciting aspect of the sport.

 We once again thank Bluewater Canoe Club and the Eastern Province Canoe Union for allowing us to use their equipment free of charge, thus placing a sport which would otherwise be excessively expensive, within reach of our pupils.
