Girls’ Cricket

The First Team had mixed fortunes in terms of results, but was competitive in all the matches.

Three games were won and two lost with one being rained out.  Games were played on a home-away basis against three schools, namely, Linkside, Woodridge and  St. Dominics.    Unfortunately schools have been allowed to enter their first teams in the second league where standards are vastly lower.     Linkside is still the toughest opposition in the league.

Many of the players have grown and achieved well this season.   Players like Nolu Mhlauli (all rounder and captain), Sasha Pillay (all rounder) and Lauren Button (wicket-keeping and batting) have become the key players this season.

There are however a number of young newcomers who are fast progressing.  I see some fine new talent amongst these girls, without mentioning names here, as all are giving of their best.   The spirit on and off the field is great and testifies to the enjoyment these girls get out of the game.

The new season kicks off with a tour to East London on the first weekend of the fourth term.  We are playing Höerskool Grens on the Friday and Stirling High on the Saturday.

Many thanks to Mr Hutchinson who coaches the Seconds with great enthusiasm.
