The First Aiders are an ever-present force at Victoria Park. Trained for their valuable work, they tirelessly offer their services at derby days and all sport fixtures.
This year has been a very productive and successful year for First Aid. We received a good number of new First Aid members who completed their training with flying colours. We also had a few teachers such as Mr. Barry and Mrs. Nel taking part in the course.
This year saw the appointment of a First Aid board and for the first time we had a secretary, treasurer and two captains. Our secretary was Anita Nyangaresi, our treasurer was Chelsea van Eyk and our captains were Sarah Bisho and Courtney Ruth. Derby days are always the highlight of our year, where we are challenged with many different scenarios, injuries and constraints.
At derby days we are taught to think on our feet and to improvise where needed.
On behalf of the entire First Aid team, we would like to thank Mrs. Gow for keeping the freezers full of ice, Mr. Ferreira for setting up for us on every derby day, Mrs. Balkwil for donating cooler bags to us and Ms Botha for keeping us on our toes and for inspiring us to get out there to save lives.
