Chess

The 2010 Chess season has been a good one for VP. We entered the high schools B league and played 7 games, only losing one. I am very proud of the team not only for producing good results, but also producing them convincingly.

The highlight of the season would without a doubt be the match against Grey High in which we beat them 6-1. We welcome many promising newcomers to chess, with hopefully many more to join so that we can keep this amazing sport alive. Chess has a bright future at VP, and I hope that it continues to grow from strength to strength.

I would like to congratulate Tilden Plaaitjies and Ashika Morar for making the Eastern Province chess team again this year.

I have been a part of chess for 5 years at VP now, and I can honestly say that it has been a wonderful experience with never a dull moment, and that I can’t imagine it without Mr. Wynford and his refreshing sense of humour and enthusiasm.

. I would like to thank him for his unfailing support and dedication to chess, We have just heard that we have won the B – league for 2010. Congratulations once again to all the players. I am really proud of all of you.

And remember, Chess is fun!
