Ballroom dancing is offered as an evening extra-mural for senior learners.
Another year of Monday nights at ballroom has sadly come to an end. The whole atmosphere that was created by the enthusiastic dancers will always be remembered by the dancers. We had many nights of fun and laughter, filled with a chatting session before every lesson. Ballroom teaches us not only an important life skill but also to dance on your wedding day and also creates many friendships.
This year, many dancers participated in the annual South African Social Dancing Teachers Association. In the gold badge: all entrants received a result of highly recommended in other words each person achieved over 85% for their exam. For the bronze badge: six entrants received highly recommended and 2 received commended for their exams. For pre bronze, all received highly commended results.
This year the Spring Ball will be held at the NMMU indoor sports centre. The “Grand Ball” was held in memory of Brenda Sanderson-Smith and to bid farewell to “Sandy” as he is now retired and Hadrian Roberts has succeeded him. This is also the first and possibly only time that all the schools affiliated to ballroom dancing will have a single combined spring ball.
The dance is a memory that will be able to look back on fondly, now that the matrics are leaving. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the teachers involved in making this year a success, as well as the dance instructors: Sandy, Leslie and Hadrian.
