Aids Caring Committee For 2009

The Aids Caring Committee (ACC) is a group of special young people who uphold lifestyle values and choices that can safeguard their generation and themselves from HIV infection.

ACC is committed to serving a community ravaged by this disease in practical ways and with compassionate deeds.
This year has seen many challenges for organizations who are taking on the growing need to care for AIDS orphans and abandoned babies. The House of Resurrection Aids Haven is one of the many in our city that continues to provide life saving care to many affected children.

ACC’s main activity continues to be regular visits to this haven where we help where needed or just spend some fun time with the children and babies.

Havens such as these depend on the goodwill and hands-on help that groups such as ACC can offer. Our long standing relationship with this haven continues to reward us with special connections with the children. Mr Roos now serves on the board of the haven and plays a role in the management of the haven.

Special thanks to our matric members who have shown ongoing commitment to ACC. Thanks to Sinoxolo Yona and Candice Apolis for their leadership this year. We hope that our ACC matrics will continue to uphold the kindness and care that they have shown in their service to ACC.

Mrs M Brauteseth

Aids Caring Committee 2008

The Aids Caring Committee (ACC) is a group of special young people who uphold lifestyle values and choices that can safeguard their generation and themselves from HIV infection.

ACC is committed to serving a community ravaged by this disease in practical ways and with compassionate deeds.

The hard working ACC board of 2008 has continued the tradition of caring and continued support of our children’s haven. Under Seif Said and Riszelle Naicker’s able leadership ACC members have held several fund raising efforts. We look forward to contributing our gift towards this worthy cause. In addition to the House of Resurrection Haven in Salsoneville, we have also connected to Isithembiso haven in Walmer and hope to build a closer relationship there as well. The need is great!

A very busy school year has meant fewer trips to the haven, but very special thanks to all and especially to the ACC matric members who have worked consistently and supported trips to the haven whenever possible. Seif, Riszell, Wendy Wentzel, Trezell Chetty, Azlyn Adams, Bongani Montez – you will be sorely missed.

Mrs Brauteseth

We as ACC members have also been fortunate enough to meet the wonderful kids of the Aids Haven. The joy that we have brought to their lives and vice versa has been ACC’s main goal and a highlight for us all.

Seif Said

It was a tough act to follow in the footsteps of the 2006 leaders, but Richman and I were willing to take on the challenge.

We had the support of an enthusiastic group of individuals who visited The Haven on Wednesdays and Fridays. Transport problems, however, curtailed our Wednesday visits in the winter terms.

A substantial sum of money was collected during our fundraisers. The proceeds will go towards paying the school fees of those children from the Haven who have reached school-going age.

It has been an honour for Richman and I to head up this society. Our Fridays will never be the same again!

Best wishes to the new leaders and members of 2008. May you take ACC to new heights. A special thank you to Mr. Roos and Mrs. Brauteseth for always being there, lending a helping hand and spending time with the children and us during visitations.

Thandiwe Msizi
(Vice-President)

A huge thank you to all the members, matrics in particular, for their dedication and time spent with the little ones at The Haven. You have no idea how important a role you have played by socializing with these less fortunate little souls. Don’t lose the passion for caring when you hit the big bad world out there! God Bless.
