Arts at Victoria Park High School

Choir for 2009

The girl’s ensemble has had a great year. They participated in the annual “Last Night of the Proms” with Hoërskool Brandwag, Hoërskool Brandwag and a few independent vocalists. Our ensemble really showed true maturity throughout the rehearsals and performances.

We participated in the newly-formed Grahamstown Eisteddfod where we received a gold award. Our repertoire for this performance consisted of Tears in Heaven, Ain’t No Mountain High Enough and a favourable traditional, eMarabine. Sincere thank to Mr Leander, our busdriver, and Mrs Cheetham for her piano accompaniment.
Rehearsal came to an abrupt end in the third term as most of the choir members participated in Victoria Park’s production of My African Dream.

The fourth term started with a bang with the Music Extravaganza on the 9th of October. The ensemble accompanied Stephen Armstrong for his final grade 12 ensemble mark with I Believe and the inclusion of some talented boys joined us with a few numbers.
This is my final year with the girls. I have enjoyed it thoroughly. From having a horse voice after each rehearsal to the great achievement of the gold award at the Eisteddfod. Thank you to all of them. I had loads of fun!
